How is PICO different from the handheld instruments our crews already carry?

Standard field instruments measure methane in the parts-per-million range, which leaves smaller leaks unresolved and often requires a second dispatch or a lab sample to determine gas source. PICO detects at parts-per-billion sensitivity (100 to 1,000 times more sensitive than typical PPM instruments, depending on the instrument being compared) and measures the ethane-to-methane ratio in real time to determine gas source on the first visit. The result is faster investigation, fewer repeat dispatches, and a field record that resolves more indications per shift.
