Steve Wilson is the coordinator of Market/Customer Outreach for Project Canary. In this role, Steve provides oversight and coordination to support natural gas transactions, and contract structure for TrustWell Certified natural gas. Steve was instrumental in the early development of this market in his previous job in the northeast region of the US beginning in 2018.
Steve began his career as a Petroleum Engineer in drilling and production offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico for Tenneco Oil Company. He transitioned through multiple roles of increasing responsibility where he managed term natural gas transactions and coordinated the transition of long-term sales agreements under FERC Order 636. Steve joined Dynegy in 1996, where he served as Vice President of Gas & Power Origination for multiple US regions. He coordinated long-term power capacity, energy sales, and derivative structured natural gas transactions in this role. In 2003 Steve joined Chevron, serving as Vice President of Natural Gas Origination, coordinating Chevron’s US natural gas marketing business. Steve’s most recent role before Project Canary was the Director of Origination at Southwestern Energy, where he coordinated economic evaluation and execution of term natural gas transactions, including the first-ever TrustWell Certified Gas transaction in the US.
Steve has enjoyed being a mentor throughout his career and was nominated and awarded Chevron’s two highest honors, Global Mentor of the Year, and Chevron’s Chairman’s Award. Steve is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and now resides in The Woodlands, TX.
