Utilities

Lead the clean energy future.

Power and gas utilities used nearly 30 trillion cubic feet of natural gas to meet the energy needs of their customers in 2020. Utilities have the opportunity to use their buying power to drive meaningful change.

A clean energy supply chain starts with E&P operators and ends with utilities. Utilities companies that know where their energy comes from are empowered to meet demands from customers, regulators and investors.

Transparency in the supply chain drives continuous improvements.

Reach net-zero, faster

Project Canary certifies Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG), also referred to as Certified Low Emissions Gas or Certified Gas, that can lower your gas portfolio’s emissions today and give your ratepayers confidence in your portfolio’s impact on land, air, water, and community.

How we work

We work with your regulated or unregulated business to identify producers near your area. Then, we run producers through a rigorous certification program- reviewing 1000s of pages of documentation, conducting interviews and site visits. Operators that receive an impressive score on their wells, like a Gold or Platinum certification, are issued certificates, and the deal is transacted on the NAESB.

As an independent data provider, we don’t take part in those transactions. We’re paid for our certification process. The real benefit is the carbon emissions reduction enjoyed by us all.

What we do

Project Canary helps utilities of all sizes navigate and scale Responsibly Sourced Gas purchases. We support the education of internal and external stakeholders surrounding the importance of and processes behind reducing your carbon footprint. From the RFI/RFP process to connecting you with specific buyers, Project Canary is working alongside utilities to drive a clean energy future.
