Project Canary, an International Environmental Standards company, has been hard at work since last summer, and has had some incredible outcomes as a result.

Here is a brief timeline of some key milestones, starting with the most recent:

March 2021 – Colorado Energy Organizations Launch First-of-its-Kind Responsibly Sourced Natural Gas Partnership. Utilizing Project Canary technology, this pilot project brings together the full energy value chain to responsibly deliver local energy to local communities. The partnership includes Colorado Springs Utilities, Bayswater Exploration and Production, Kinder Morgan, Rimrock Energy Partners and Project Canary.

February 2021 – Data Gathering at The CSU METEC Facility. During the middle of February, Dr. Anna Scott and team performed further validation of our sensors at Colorado State University’s Methane Emissions Technology Evaluation Center (METEC) facility in northern Colorado. The tests at METEC are designed to assess Project Canary’s emission localization and mass quantification capabilities.

January 2021 – EQT and Project Canary Partner on RSG Natural Gas Pilot. EQT is the largest producer of natural gas in the Appalachian Basin and partnered with Project Canary to demonstrate the value of Responsibly Sourced Natural Gas (RSG) for domestic and international energy markets.

December 2020 – Troposphere Acquisition. Project Canary acquired Austin-Based Troposphere Monitoring, Inc. Troposphere is a leader in hydrocarbon emissions sensor technology. Their continuous monitoring sensors built upon our existing sensor lines, and provided our team with cutting edge detection methods and expanded production capabilities. Dr. Anna Scott Ph.D. from Troposphere joined Project Canary as our President. Several other scientists from Troposphere joined the team as well, including our chief scientist Dr. Yan Azdoud Ph.D, rounding-out our technical and scientific expertise.

September 2020 – Techstars Energy Accelerator Program. Project Canary was selected to join the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech 2020 class. The Techstars program rapidly accelerated awareness and interest in Project Canary’s solutions among leading power generators and midstream companies.

August 2020 – IES Merger and Trustwell™ Certification. Project Canary merged with Independent Energy Standards (IES), the originator of the Trustwell™ certification, the oil and gas industry’s premier certification for the Responsibly Sourced Natural Gas (RSG) market. Jory Caulkins from IES joined us as Executive Chairman of International Environmental Standards, and Joshua Zier,  lead certification engineer came on to lead our growing certification program.

Looking Forward

We are excited about the potential of the RSG market and the potential for significant, new announcements over the next six to 12 months alongside additional utility, midstream, and upstream partners. Overall, we are excited about helping the energy industry improve its environmental performance and the ability of RSG to bridge the world to a low-carbon future. Project Canary has a vital role to play and we look forward to providing you with future updates on our progress.

About Project Canary

Project Canary is a climate technology company that offers an enterprise emissions data platform that helps companies identify, measure, understand, and act to reduce emissions across the energy value chain. Given its outsized impact, the Company started with methane and has since expanded to other greenhouse gasses. Project Canary’s mission is to Measure It — leveraging sophisticated software solutions to help companies improve and report on their emissions footprint. They do this by building high-fidelity sensors, ingesting data from various other technologies and sources, characterizing the accuracy of such emissions data, and deploying advanced physics-based AI-powered models to identify leaks and quantify emissions.
