About the Project

Emergency Scenarios

If an emergency occurs and a mine worker is first on the scene, it is imperative they have some basic skills to ensure the safety of themselves and other employees.  The individual may be required to fight a fire, contact emergency services, initiate an evacuation, and/or perform First Aid. In each of these situations, it is important the employee applies their knowledge of hazard awareness and risk assessment.

Story Outline

To enable more efficient development this scenario has been broken into three separate sub-scenarios to be run individually. They are Fire, Vehicle Accident and Head Injury.

1. Fire - The user begins the scenario in a heavy vehicle workshop. The user will notice smoke rising from the recycling bin which will eventually escalate. In addition, the wind is blowing smoke/fire towards other sources of fuel. The user will have to manage this fire, contact emergency response, evacuate the building and provide for the safety of their fellow co-workers.

2. Vehicle Accident - The user is driving a light vehicle along a haul road. They will find a rolled service truck across the road on its side. In order to manage the accident, the user will have to contact emergency services and conduct first aid processes in a timely manner.

3. Head Injury - The user begins the scenario in a heavy vehicle workshop. Upon starting, the user will notice a haul truck where they will see a NPC lying on the ground close to the rear of the haul truck. The NPC has a severe head injury and is surrounded by rocks.
